MOIST OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. water
1 c. raisins
1 c. butter
1/2 tsp. each of cinnamon, nutmeg & salt
1/2 c. nut meats
2 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
2 c. quick oatmeal

Combine sugar, water, raisins, and shortening. Add spices, salt and nuts. Boil these ingredients 10 minutes. Set aside to cool. Then add eggs, vanilla, flour, oats and soda to the cooled mixture. Drop by spoonsful on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees or until brown.
