SCRATCH POUND CAKE 
3 c. sugar
3 c. plain flour
6 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 to 2 tsp. any flavoring
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. Crisco

Cream Crisco well. Add sugar gradually; cream well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add extract. Measure buttermilk in a cup and stir in soda. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with buttermilk to egg mixture, beating well. Bake in tube pan 1 hour or more at 350 degrees.
