(GERMAN) SWEET - SOUR RED
CABBAGE
 
1 lg. head red cabbage, cut fine
5 apples, cut and cored (tart apples)
1/2 c. apple vinegar
1/2 (heaping) c. white sugar
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

Melt butter in 6 quart pan, add other ingredients. Cook for about 40 minutes on medium heat. Check often and stir to keep the cabbage from scorching.

This keeps in the refrigerator for about a month. Can be put in containers and frozen.
