TEXAS BROWNIES WITH FROSTING | |
2 c. sugar 2 c. flour 1 stick butter 1/2 c. oil 4 tbsp. cocoa 1 c. water 1/2 c. buttermilk (no substitutions) 1 tsp. baking soda 2 beaten eggs 1 tsp. vanilla Sift sugar and flour; set aside in a bowl. In a saucepan melt and bring to a boil: butter, oil, cocoa and water. Pour boiling mixture into flour/sugar and stir. Add remaining ingredients. Blend and stir well. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes for brownies or put in a cake pan at 350 degrees for 30 minutes for cake. While baking, make frosting. In same saucepan you used before, mix and bring just to boiling: 6 tbsp. milk (not buttermilk) 5 tbsp. cocoa Add to bowl of 1 pound powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Frost cake immediately out of oven. Cool. It's well worth the effort. |
