3 c. cooked, dried apples
3 tsp. baking soda

Add soda and set aside.

1 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
4 1/2 c. self rising flour
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. cinnamon and cloves
1 1/2 c. chopped pecans
1 1/2 c. raisins

Beat Crisco until light, add sugar and beat well. Add flour, 1 cup at a time. Add cocoa, cinnamon and cloves. Add pecans and raisins. Blend in cooked apples and soda. Cook at 350 degrees in four round cake pans.

ICING FOR DRIED APPLE CAKE:

3 c. sugar
3 c. sweet milk
2 c. coconut
1 1/2 stick of butter
3 lemons (juice and grated rinds)

Combine all ingredients and let boil slow for 10 minutes.
