CRUNCHY FARM CAKE 
2 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. granulated sugar
1/4 c. confectioners' sugar
1/4 c. fine graham cracker crumbs
1/2 c. finely chopped nuts

To prepare the crunch mixture blend butter with sugar, graham cracker crumbs and nuts until crumbly. Press into bottom of buttered of 10 inch tube pan.

CAKE BATTER:

1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
4 egg yolks
2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. mace
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
4 egg whites
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. sugar

Cream butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks and vanilla and beat thoroughly. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk in thirds. Beat smooth after each addition.

Beat egg whites until foamy. Beat in cream of tartar and continue beating until mixture is still but not dry. Beat 1/2 cup sugar in gradually. Fold into cake batter. Pour over crunch mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes to an hour.
