RED VELVET CAKE 
2 oz. red food coloring
4 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 1/4 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. white vinegar
3 (8 inch) round cake pans

Mix cocoa and food color in small bowl and set aside. Cream sugar, Crisco and eggs. Add the red paste to creamed mixture and beat for 10 minutes. Add flour, buttermilk, salt and vanilla. Mix well.

Mix soda and vinegar in a large cup (let it bubble). Stir soda mixture to cake batter and pour into 3 (8 inch) prepared pans. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
