SPOON BREAD 
2 c. cold water
1 c. white corn meal
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
3 eggs, well beaten
2-3 tbsp. melted shortening

Mix first 3 ingredients; boil 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in remaining ingredients; mix well. Pour into heated, well-greased casserole. Bake at 400 degrees for 50 minutes or until top is firm and well browned. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
