2 c. sifted flour
2 tbsp. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1 beaten egg
2/3 c. milk

Sift together dry ingredients; cut in butter until mixture is like coarse crumbs. Combine egg and milk all at once to dry ingredients, stirring only to moisten. Spread dough in greased 8"x8"x2" pan. Sprinkle sugar on top and bake at 450 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes. Cool 5 minutes, then remove from pan. Serve warm with strawberries.
