POP - POP'S CHICKEN SOUP 
1 whole chicken or quartered
1 bunch parsley
1 med. size onion
15 oz. can tomatoes
1 bag barley
1 bunch or bag carrots

Place chicken in 9 cups of water, add salt and pepper and bring to a boil, skim accordingly. Add tomatoes, onion and parsley (stick of celery or two is optional). Simmer 1 hour. Remove chicken (or parts); place on platter to cool. Strain remainder of ingredients. Squeeze out all juice. Put broth in smaller pot, bring to boil and add 1/2 bag barley and carrots. Simmer 20 to 40 minutes until barley and carrots are to taste. Remove chicken from bones, cut into small bites. When barley and carrots are done, turn heat off and add chicken pieces. Stir. Enjoy!
