CHERRY 'N DATE COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 c. butter
1 tsp. salt
4 to 4 1/2 c. flour
1 (6 oz.) jar maraschino cherries, chopped
1 (8 oz.) box dates, chopped
2 c. coconut
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. milk
1 tbsp. baking soda

Cream together sugars and butter. Add eggs, milk and vanilla to mixture. Add chopped dates, cherries and coconut. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to the rest of mixture. Depending on how well drained the cherries are, sometimes a bit more flour may be required.

This cookie bakes at its best on a white Teflon coated cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 to 18 minutes or until done. Makes about 3 1/2 to 4 dozen cookies.
