DATE PECAN ROLL
1 c. canned milk
3 c. sugar
2/3 c. white corn syrup
1 lb. cut up dates
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. chopped pecans

In a heavy saucepan add milk, sugar and corn syrup. Cook over low heat until it forms a soft ball, 245 degrees, stirring constantly. When dropped into a glass of cold water, you should be able to roll it between your fingers easily. Add dates, vanilla and chopped pecans; mix well. Scoop onto a damp cloth and roll into a smooth ball. Chill and slice. Place on a tray in single layers to let dry. If it seems to stick, dip each piece in powdered sugar.
