BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
6 qt. cucumbers (24 c. sliced)
5 c. sugar
1 1/4 qt. (5 c.) vinegar
1/2 c. mustard seed
1 tbsp. celery seed
1 tbsp. turmeric
3 or 4 big onions, sliced

Chill cucumbers and onions in salt water for 3 hours. heat spices, vinegar and sugar. Then add cucumbers and onions. Bring to boil. Put in jars and seal.
