1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 (1 oz. ea.) sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
1/2 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups unbroken pecans or walnuts

Mix together margarine and sugar. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Mix in melted chocolate, then dry ingredients which have been sifted together. Stir in pecans or walnuts.

Drop by teaspoonfuls 1-inch apart onto a baking sheet.

Bake at 350°F for just 10 minutes. Be careful not to burn.

Makes 3 dozen cookies.
