“ORANGE PECAN CRISPS” IS IN:

ORANGE PECAN CRISPS 
A Crisp Refrigerator Cookie.

1 cup shortening (Crisco)
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 tbsp. shredded orange rind
2 tbsp. orange juice
2 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Cream together shortening and sugars. Add egg, orange rind and orange juice. Add dry ingredients, sifted together, and the pecans. Mix until blended.

Shape the dough into 2 long rolls, 2-inches in diameter. Wrap each roll in waxed paper. Chill until firm.

Cut chilled rolls into 1/8-inch slices.

Bake on a baking sheet at 400°F for about 7 minutes.

FOR FANCY SHAPES:

Divide dough into 4 or 6 portions. Place each portion between 2 sheets of waxed paper. Roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness. Chill.

Cut into various shapes with cookie cutter. Bake as above.

Makes 8 dozen (2-inch) cookies.
