JUMBO GINGERSNAPS 
1/2 c. sugar
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 c. salad oil
1/4 c. dark molasses
1/4 c. maple syrup
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cardamom
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg

Into large bowl measure sugar, flour and remaining ingredients with mixer at low speed beat mixture until well blended. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Shape 1/4 cup dough into ball, roll in sugar. Make 10 balls. Place 3" apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 15 minutes. Cool on rack.
