1 c. unsifted flour
1/2 c. salt
1/4 c. cornstarch
1 1/4 tsp. alum
1 1/4 tsp. oil
1 c. water
Food coloring if desired

Combine dry ingredients in a 2-quart batter bowl; gradually stir in oil and water until smooth. Microwave at medium power uncovered 4 1/2-5 minutes, stirring every minute until thick.

Mixture will be lumpy while microwaving. Let cool 15 minutes or until cool enough to handle. Turn onto counter and knead until smooth, about 2 minutes. Divide into sections and knead food coloring in as desired. If dough becomes sticky, knead in more flour. Keeps for months.
