SHIP WRECK 
3 c. diced peeled potatoes
1/2 c. diced onion
2 c. diced carrots
1 c. diced celery
Cover with 1/2 lb. layer ground beef
Salt and pepper to taste
1 #2 can kidney beans
1 tbsp. raw washed rice
1 #2 1/2 can tomatoes or fresh tomatoes

Place in greased 3-quart casserole.

Put ingredients in layers; beginning with potatoes, followed by onions, carrots, celery, cover with ground beef, then the kidney beans, rice and tomatoes.

Cook in slow 325 degree oven for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. If it seems dry, add a little water or tomato juice. Some people like it fairly dry while others like it soupy to be eaten with crackers.
