PITTSBURGH PUMPKIN COOKIES 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. walnut pieces
1/2 c. dates or raisins
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. pumpkin
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs

Cream together the sugar, shortening, eggs, and vanilla. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend together until smooth. Measure cookie size by dropping mixture from a teaspoon onto the baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes at 375 degrees.
