BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
20 med. cucumbers, cut in slices
12 med. onions, cut in slices

Soak overnight plus 1 1/2 hours with 1 cup salt. Rinse in cold water.

BRINE:

4 c. water
4 c. white vinegar
3 c. sugar (light brown)
4 tsp. celery seed
2 tsp. mustard seed
2 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. turmeric

Heat brine until it just starts to boil, then add cucumbers. Simmer for 30 minutes. Seal in hot jars.
