ORANGE CANDY CAKE 
CAKE:

1/2 c. butter
2 eggs, well beaten
2 1/2 c. sugar, separated
2 tbsp. grated orange rind
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. orange candy slices, chopped sm. (you can use raisins instead)
1 c. chopped nuts

Cream butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar. Add eggs and milk and orange rind in second bowl. Sift flour with soda and baking powder. Mix half flour mixture into butter mixture. Add candy and nuts into second half of flour then add this to butter mixture. Bake in well greased 10 inch tube pan (sometimes use 9 inch square). Bake at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes.

TOPPING:

1 c. orange juice
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. grated orange rind

While cake is baking mix orange juice, sugar and orange rind. Heat until sugar is dissolved. Do not boil. After removing hot cake from oven pour topping over hot cake. Let soak overnight or 6 hours. Serve topped with whipped cream.
