RIBBON CAKE 
3/4 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
3 c. sifted cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. low fat milk
4 egg whites

Blend Crisco, sugar and salt. Sift flour with baking powder and salt. Add flour mixture alternately with milk. Fold in egg whites. Divide in 3 parts.

FOR DARK LAYER:

Add: 1/8 tsp. nutmeg 1/8 tsp. baking soda 2 tbsp. cocoa Stirred with 2 tbsp. water

PINK LAYER:

Add: 1/2 tsp. vanilla

WHITE LAYER:

Add:

Bake at 360 degrees for 25-35 minutes. Ice with 7 minute icing.

ICING:

1 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. water
2 egg whites
Pinch cream of tartar & salt

Cook over double boiler 7 minutes, beating constantly.
