ORIGINAL TOLL HOUSE PAN COOKIE 
1 c. plus 2 measuring tbsp. unsifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. softened butter
6 tbsp. sugar
6 tbsp. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 egg
1 c. Nestle semi-sweet chocolate morsels (6 oz. pkg.)
1/2 c. chopped nuts; optional

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside. In a large bowl, combine butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract; beat until creamy. Beat in egg. Gradually add flour mixture; mix well. Stir in chocolate morsels and nuts. Spread the dough into a greased 9 inch square pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Cool; cut into about 16 (2 inch) squares. For a crispier cookie: Follow same directions but spread dough into greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Bake at 12-15 minutes. Makes 24 (2 inch) squares.
