HARD TACK 
1/2 c. white corn syrup
2 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 tsp. flavoring
Food coloring

FLAVORS:

Root Beer
Anise
Cinnamon
Cloves
Sassafras
Orange
Wintergreen
Peppermint
Lemon

Boil to 272 degrees. Pour into buttered pan and let it cool only enough to handle. Make a long roll with the hands and snip with a scissors. Just take enough in the hands at one time to handle easily then get some more until its all cut. Butter on hands helps sometimes sprinkle confectioners' sugar on counter and let pieces lay until cold.
