BUTTERCREAM ICING 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. Crisco
1/8 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
4-5 c. powdered sugar (there are 4 in 1 box)
1/4 c. plus 1 tbsp. milk

Cream butter and shortening with electric mixer. Add vanilla and salt. Gradually add sugar, 1 cup at a time, beating well on medium speed. Scrape sides of bowl often. When all sugar is mixed in, icing will appear dry. Add milk and beat at high speed until light and fluffy. Keep icing covered with damp cloth until ready to decorate. Great for decorating cakes.
