RUSSIAN BEEF | |
2/3 c. finely chopped onion 1 clove garlic, chopped fine 3 tbsp. oil or bacon fat 2 lb. round steak, cut into 1 inch cubes 1 (4 oz.) can sliced mushrooms 1 c. (1/2 pt.) commercial sour cream 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce 1 c. beef bouillon 1 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1 tbsp. flour 2 tbsp. water 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce Cook onion and garlic in oil until soft in 10 inch skillet over low heat. Add round steak and brown. Add mushrooms with liquid, sour cream, tomato sauce, bouillon, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cover and cook over low heat for about two hours. Mix together flour and water, and stir into meat gravy to thicken. Serve with hot cooked noodles or mashed potatoes. |
