TURTLE CANDIES 
72 pecan halves
24 caramel candies
1 tsp. shortening
1 pkg. (6 oz.) chocolate chips

Heat oven to 300 degrees. Cover cookie sheet with aluminum foil, shiny side up, grease.

For each candy, place 3 pecan halves in "Y" shape on foil. Place 1 caramel candy in center of each "Y". Bake just until candy is melted--9-10 minutes (or less).

Heat shortening and chips over low heat, stirring constantly. Spread mixture over candies leaving pecan ends uncovered. Refrigerate until chocolate is firm.
