TOMATOES A LA TURKA (Stuffed
Tomatoes)
 
10 tomatoes (or equal number of tomatoes, zucchini, bell peppers)
1 lb. ground beef
1/4 c. rice
1-2 cloves garlic, mashed
Salt & pepper to taste
2 tbsp. parsley
2 tbsp. tomato sauce
1 onion, chopped
1/2 tsp. sugar

Saute meat; add rice, garlic salt and pepper. Stir and cook 5 minutes. Add parsley. Slice off top of each tomato, scoop out pulp and reserve. Fill with meat mixture and place in prepared baking dish. (For zucchini, cut into 5 inch piece, scoop out pulp with peeler, stuff meat into hole; for green pepper, cut in half, seed and stuff with meat.)

To prepare baking dish, put pulp of vegetables, chopped onion and sugar on bottom. Pour tomato sauce on to top of vegetables after placed in dish. Bake, covered, in 350 degree oven for 1 hour, uncover last 15 minutes.
