APPLE STRUDEL
1 c. lukewarm milk
2 eggs
1/2 c. butter
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
4 c. flour (more or less to make dough soft - usually more)
Melted butter
1 to 2 gals. sliced apples
1 1/2 to 2 c. sugar
Cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, crushed corn flakes or Wheaties
Cloves, allspice, coconut, and nuts (optional)

Make dough by combining milk, eggs, butter, sugar, salt, and flour. Knead thoroughly for 10 to 15 minutes. Pat out on floured board; grease and cover with very warm bowl or frying pan or in low warm oven. Let stand until warmed, 20 to 30 minutes (the longer makes it stretch easier). Pat out on floured cloth on large table and pull out paper thin. Start by first patting out, then rolling pin, then pulling by hand. Sprinkle melted butter over it. Sprinkle apples, sugar, spices, raisins, corn flakes, and nuts. Dot with butter. Roll by lifting cloth on 1 side. Seal edges and put on large greased pan. Grease the top. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) until apples are done, at least 1 hour (bigger apples could take 1 1/2 to 2 hours). Cover top with foil to avoid burning.
