1 lg. Granny Smith or other good crisp tart apple
1/2 stalk celery
1 c. miniature marshmallows
1/2 c. raisins
1 tbsp. mayonnaise
1 sm. banana, optional
1/2 c. chopped pecans, optional
1/2 c. seedless grapes, optional

Remove core and dice the Granny Smith apple. Put into a medium to large mixing bowl. I leave on the peel. Finely dice the celery and add to apples. Add marshmallows, raisins and pecans (if using) and 1 tablespoon mayonnaise mixing thoroughly.

Do not add extra mayonnaise, as this ruins the salad. Add bananas and grapes last to keep from becoming mushy. Firm fruit works best. Serve immediately. Serves 4.
