HAMBURGER SOUP 
2 lbs. ground beef
2 tbsp. salad oil-olive oil
1/4 tsp. each oregano and basil
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/8 tsp. savory salt
1 pkg. onion soup mix
6 c. boiling water
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce

1 c. celery, sliced crosswise
1/2 c. celery leaves, torn in lg. pieces
1 c. sliced carrots
1/3 c. dried split peas
1/3 c. elbow macaroni
Parmesan cheese

In large saucepan, with tight fitting lid. Brown meat in oil. Add salt, pepper, oregano, basil, savory salt and onion soup mix. Stir in boiling water, tomato sauce and soy sauce. Cover, simmer 15 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare celery, celery leaves and carrots. Add to simmering mixture and continue cooking 30 minutes. Add peas and macaroni and simmer 30 minutes longer, adding more water if necessary. Pass grated Parmesan cheese to be sprinkled over individual servings. Serves 6 to 8. Especially good with French bread!
