OLD FASHIONED GINGERBREAD 
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. molasses
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. salt
1 c. hot water

Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg, molasses and dry ingredients. Mix well. Add hot water. Beat well. Pour into cake pan. Bake 35 minutes, 350 degrees. Serve with Cool Whip.
