APPLE DUMPLINGS 
SYRUP:

2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. butter
2 c. water
1 tsp. nutmeg

Combine all ingredients in pan and heat until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved.

CRUST:

2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
Sliced apples

Put flour and baking powder in bowl. Add shortening and salt, and mix as you would for a pie crust. Add milk. Roll in small rounds 1/4 inch thick on floured board. Place sliced apples on crust. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Wrap with dough. Place in greased 9 x 13 inch cake pan. Pour the warm syrup over dumplings and bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes. A couple drops of red food coloring makes them look pretty.
