FRUIT COCKTAIL COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 c. fruit cocktail (drain, but save liquid)
1/2 c. coconut
1 c. raisins
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. each salt and soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts
4 c. flour

Cream together shortening, vanilla and sugar. Add in flour, baking powder, salt and soda, mixing well.

Stir in fruit cocktail, coconut, raisins and nuts. (Add liquid, only if needed.)

Drop on well greased cookie sheet by rounded teaspoonful. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until bottoms are golden brown.
