MONKEY OR PULL APART BREAD | |
1 1/2 c. dark brown sugar 5 tbsp. butter 1/3 c. evaporated milk or cream 2 tbsp. corn or maple syrup 1 c. currants (you may use raisins) 3/4 c. chopped nuts (pecans are best) You will need 1 package frozen rolls or make one batch of roll dough. When the dough is ready to form into rolls or the frozen ones are thawed start. Mix brown sugar, milk, syrup and butter and heat until sugar is dissolved. Set aside to cool a bit. Grease a tube pan (not the removeable bottom type) and sprinkle a layer of nuts and currants on bottom. Then arrange rolls on top of this and pour some of the syrup over. Do the same thing in layers until all is used ending with the glaze poured over all. Let rise in warm place until the rolls are at the top of the pan. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. If browning too quickly cover lightly with aluminum foil. Remove from oven and let rest 10 minutes. Turn out of pan and serve warm. |
