AUNT GLADY'S FUDGE FROSTING 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 c. milk
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla

Put the above ingredients, except vanilla, in a 2 quart saucepan. Stir together and bring to a boil. Boil at a full rolling boil for 1 minute by the clock. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and beat with a mixer just like you do when you make fudge. If it thickens too fast, add a tablespoon or so of cream or milk. Quickly frost the cake.

This recipe also makes a good fudge sauce for ice cream. After you boil it for one minute, add 1/2 package of miniature marshmallows. Serve warm over any flavor ice cream.
