DILL PICKLES 
3 pt. of water
1 pt. vinegar
1/2 c. coarse salt
1/2 tsp. alum
1 tbsp. dill weed or sprig of fresh dill

Pack pickles in jars. Bring water, vinegar, salt and alum to rolling boil. Pour over and seal jar. Put in boiling water bath 5 minutes.
