CARAMEL TOPPING 
1 1/2 c. light brown sugar
2/3 c. light corn syrup
1/3 c. water
1/3 c. butter
2/3 c. evaporated milk or heavy cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. burnt sugar flavoring

Combine sugar, syrup, water and boil until it reaches the soft ball stage. Remove from heat and add butter. Add cream very slowly, mixing well. Add flavoring. Do not cook anymore. Serve warm or cold. Good over ice cream, yellow cake, etc. Yield: 1 pint.
