BUTTERCREAM TORTE 
4 c. crushed vanilla wafers (save 1 c.)
2 c. softened butter
4 c. sifted powdered sugar
8 eggs
1 c. chopped almonds or walnuts
2 c. whipped cream
1 c. drained, chopped maraschino cherries

Put crumbs in 9x13 pan. Cream butter, add sugar. Gradually continue beating until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time. Add nuts. Spread mixture in the pan on crumbs. Sprinkle 1/2 cup crumbs.

Beat whipped cream - add cherries. Put over egg mixture, sprinkle with 1/2 cup crumbs. Freeze.
