2 c. plain flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. water
1 stick butter
1/2 c. Crisco
4 semi-sweet chocolate sq.
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs

Boil water, butter, Crisco and chocolate. Mix flour and sugar. Pour boiled mixture over flour and sugar. Mix in buttermilk and baking soda. Add 2 eggs and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Pour into large greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

CAKE ICING FOR CHOCOLATE CAKE:

1 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. milk
Add 1 box 10X confection sugar
4 semi-sweet chocolate sq.

Dissolve, remove lumps, and pour over cake while still warm.
