Hot Fudge Sauce

 Mike (Michigan) says:
I do not understand these reviews. Followed the recipe to the letter, accurate measurements of all ingredients, and what I have is too thin to be hot fudge and unbelievably sweet, almost inedibly so (and yes, it was unsweetened cocoa). Tastes like some form of chocolate syrup, nothing even close to hot fudge. I'll go back to buying Sanders, thank you. What a waste of my ingredients.

The main reasons I didn't make this recipe: flour (in a dessert sauce?) and regular cocoa. Since the recipe has so much sugar ... which melts when heated ... it's no surprise that this was a Chocolate Sauce recipe, not a recipe for Hot Fudge.
NYTimes has one you may want to try with NO corn syrup. Plus, the cocoa used DOES make a difference. NYT hot fudge uses bittersweet choc. AND Dutch process cocoa. Good luck!

I added a little cinnamon and even a pinch of cayenne to give it a little Mexican feel and it was great.

This recipe is fantastic! We had it chocolate ice cream, strawberries, and whipped topping. I realized, just now, i forgot the vanilla and salt...and it was still great!

It was very good!! Very very chocolatey... Just don't put too much on your ice cream... But overall very good.

Excellent and easy. Followed the recipe to the letter and it thickened up nicely. Being a true fudge nut, I think I'll make it with special dark cocoa next time for even more "scrumptiousness". Just the thing for a snowy night in Vermont.

Amazing! This was my first go at homemade hot fudge, and it was a success! I boiled for 5 minutes, and then turned it down to medium-low for the last 5. Make sure you stir frequently, so there's no burning. I'll make this again and again!

This to my surprise was quite easy to make and so delicious! I had tried a different recipe and it hadn't turned out so well. But I followed this recipe exactly and it was fantastic! Definitely going to use this recipe again! Thanks so much!

This is the best recipe for hot fudge sauce! Loved it! I only boil it for a few minutes then turn it down to low for about 5 minutes while constantly stirring otherwise it burns!

i make homemade desserts every night-- this is the best dessert with coffee ice cream and whipped cream. unbelievable sauce so different than the ones made with choc chips and a totally different food group than the ones you buy in the store.
