SHOOFLY PIE 
FILLING:

1-1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. molasses
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 unbaked pie crust

Put molasses and sugar into a mixing bowl. Add baking soda to boiling water and add to molasses and sugar and beat. Pour filling into unbaked pie crust.

TOPPING:

3 c. flour
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening

Mix with fingers to make fine crumbs. Sprinkle crumbs on top of filling.

Makes 3 small pies (will foam).
