AUNT FRANCES' OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. raisins, cover with water and simmer 10 minutes (save out 7 tbsp. liquid)
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. quick Quaker Oats
2/3 c. chopped nuts

Cream sugar and shortening; add egg and raisin liquid. Sift flour, soda, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon into mixture. Stir well. Add oats and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees.
