MOMMA'S GREAT BIG COOKIES
2 c. water
2 c. raisins
1 c. shortening (Crisco)
3 c. sugar
4 beaten eggs
6 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. chopped nuts

Boil raisins in water for 1 minute. Add Crisco and sugar to raisin and water; stir until melted. When cool add rest of ingredients and mix with big wooden spoon. I mix all in a large pot. Batter will be lumpy.

Drop by tablespoon on to greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees until done. Cool on racks. Cookies will spread and are quite large. They are filling and wonderful with a big glass of milk. Can be frozen, but best when eaten right away.
