JEN'S BROWN BAG APPLE PIE
1 (9-inch) prepared pie shell

FILLING:

4-5 apples, peeled and cored (Jonagold, Gala, and Fuji work best)
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tbsp. lemon juice

Cut 4-5 apples into 1/2 to 1-inch pieces. Combine sugar, flour and nutmeg. Toss to coat. Put into prepared 9-inch pie shell. Drizzle with lemon juice.

TOPPING:

1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, slightly frozen

Tip: Put butter in freezer at the start of cutting up the apples.

Combine flour and sugar. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives until a crumb mixture forms. Sprinkle over apples.

Put assembled pie in brown bag. Fold end a couple of times and seal well with a paper clip.

Bake at 425°F for 1 hour.
