CHEESY HASH BROWNS 
1 (6 oz.) pkg. hash brown potatoes
1/2 c. chopped green onions
1 (4 oz.) pkg. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. butter
1/3 c. water

Pour enough boiling water over potatoes to cover. Let stand 5 minutes; drain thoroughly. Layer half each of the potatoes, onions, cheese, salt and butter in 3 quart casserole. Repeat with remaining potatoes, onions, salt and butter; reserve remaining cheese. Pour 1/3 cup water over potato mixture. Cover and microwave on high 6 to 7 minutes. Sprinkle with reserved cheese. Cover and microwave 2 minutes. Let stand uncovered 5 minutes before serving. 4 to 6 servings.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
