2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. cloves 1/4 c. butter 1 c. brown sugar 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves. Cream butter and brown sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Blend in dry ingredients. Roll out half of the dough on floured surface to 2 (10 inch) rectangles. Spread with half of the filling. Roll as for a jelly roll, starting with 10-inch side. Wrap in waxed paper. Repeat with remaining dough. Chill 2 hours. Cut into 1/4 inch slices and place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 400 degrees. FILLING: Melt 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate. Stir in 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts. |
