MYSTERY PICKLES 
6 lbs. lg. cucumbers, peel & core (makes 1 gallon)
2 c. lime
8 1/2 qts. water

Place cucumbers in mixture and let set for 24 hours. Rinse and drain. Make a mixture of: 1 sm. bottle red food coloring 1 tbsp. powdered alum

Put enough water to cover, bring to a boil. Simmer for 2 hours. Drain, place in large containers.

SYRUP:

2 c. vinegar
10 c. sugar
1 (6 oz.) bag red hot cinnamon candy
2 c. water
8 broken cinnamon sticks

Bring to a boil. Make sure all the candy is dissolved. Pour over cucumber rings. Let stand overnight. Next day pack cucumber rings in jars. Reheat syrup to boil. Pour over rings and seal.
