PLAIN DONUTS 
2/3 c. sugar
2 tbsp. melted butter
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
2 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Combine sugar, butter, and egg; beat well. Add milk and mix well. Stir in dry ingredients. Chill dough for 2 hours. Roll out dough and cut.
