JAM CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
4 eggs
2 c. blackberry jam
4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking powder
1 box raisins
2 c. nuts, chopped
1 c. candied cherries
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream shortening, sugars and eggs. Add jam and mix well. In large bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, baking powder, raisins, nuts, and cherries; mix well. Then add to creamed mixture; mix well. Mix buttermilk and soda together, then add to flour mixture. Mix well. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan and bake at 250 degrees for 3 to 3 1/2 hours.
